Whitmore Family Recipes Part 2

December 8, 2008

I made this a couple of months ago maple bacon it is like a dessert its so sweet (recipe below). I also made bacon with Worcestershire sauce (recipe below) its great with a burger. If you are having a party you could pass the maple bacon out I usually roll it up and stick a toothpick through it. Or if you are having a BBQ the Worcestershire bacon is always a favorite.

Maple bacon 1 bottle of real maple syrup and a container of bacon let sit for 5 minutes and cook on a griddle until it looks fully cooked it will not get crispy.

Worcestershire sauce and bacon 2 table spoons of Worcestershire sauce and a container of bacon cook on a griddle this will get crispy.

Whitmore Family Recipes Part 1

December 7, 2008

I have heard story's from my father how his grandfather (Charles Whitmore) on his dads side made pancakes with real maple syrup (recipe below) (it helps to brown it) in the Bisquick batter in his home town of Ceres CA. My father says it was a great pancake his grandfather used to cook bacon first to get the drippings as a sort of oil.I have not yet tried it but it sounds good.

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 table spoon to a quarter cup of maple syrup

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, maple syrup, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.

Heat a lightly bacon fat oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Hot Dogs

December 6, 2008

Today I went with my father to our local hardware store. There is a man with a hot dog cart he servers bacon rapped hot dogs with jalapenos, guacamole, and grilled onions. It is the best hot dog I ever had. I usually don't like guacamole but the flavor is very good if you are ever at b&b hardware you should try it.

Thanksgiving Day

November 27, 2008

Today is Thanksgiving and dinner at our friends was splendid. The menu consisted of turkey, gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, maple pecan yams, croissant, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate cake, and pumpkin crumble.

The turkey was moist, I prefer the dark meat but i don't like stuffing and gravy. My mom brought her famous garlic mashed potatoes they were good. The cranberry sauce was sweet but tart, the green bean casserole is made different than others (recipe below). We had croissant they were Pillsbury pop and bake good but not traditionally flaky, the yams were mashed.

The desert table is always a favorite, we had pumpkin pie from Urth Cafe in Beverly Hills. There was pecan pie, pumpkin crumble, and chocolate cake. I choose to have pumpkin pie, it's graham cracker crust is rich and delicious. You have had never had pumpkin pie till you have eaten Urth Cafe's pumpkin pie.
